The Sooke Fine Arts Society invites artists residing on Vancouver Island and B.C.’s coastal islands to submit their work for the 2024 Sooke Fine Arts Show and Sale.

The call to artists closes on June 1.

SEAPARC Recreation Centre in Sooke will host an art show from July 27 to Aug. 5, offering a unique experience for both art enthusiasts and beginners.

The arena venue is transformed into a world-class art gallery showcasing a diverse collection of original artwork. Live music, art demonstrations, talks, and guided tours will further enrich the event.

“The call to artists is always highly anticipated, but this year’s is particularly exciting after the tremendous success of the 2023 show,” said Terrie Moore, executive director of the Sooke Fine Arts Society. “The show’s growing popularity amongst attendees, buyers, collectors, and artists has solidified its reputation as a must-attend event.”

A panel of art professionals will curate and select more than 350 original fine art pieces in various mediums and styles for display and sale.

More than $12,000 in awards will be presented across various categories, including art excellence, social commentary, designer’s choice, and people’s choice. As a bonus, artists can also contribute unique gift items to the show’s gallery gift shop. They are encouraged to participate in talks, demonstrations, or guided tours.

Artists from coastal islands, including Haida Gwaii, may submit work in various mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, ceramics, and handmade jewelry. Artists can find guidelines for submitting their work on the society’s website at sookefinearts.com/artist-information.

The submission deadline for artwork is June 1, and artists are encouraged to submit their work online at sookefinearts.com.
