The Arrogant Worms creep back into town

Fall Guide: Comedy Listings

If you wanna laugh, don’t miss the return of the Victoria Improv Fest, featuring eight different teams from across North America, October 2-4 at the Event Centre. Equally funny is former Dead Troll Wes Borg—his Ha! was one of this year’s Fringe hits and he’s now mounting his own Sunday comedy nights at the Event Centre this fall, running October 26, November 2 and 23 (so far) and featuring a mix bag of talents from the likes of Atomic Vaudeville, Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, Spilt Milk, the 30 Cent Players and the Impromaniacs. Borg will also be remounting Ha! for one show only on October 11, also at the Event Centre.

And even though it sounds like some kind of electioneering, Gerry Dee’s Last Canadian Standing tour is actually another night of stand-up comedy, landing October 19 at the Mac. Meanwhile, the Arrogant Worms return with their own brand of Canadian comedy on October 29 at Alix Goolden Hall, while the Mac will play host to You Know You Want It, a night of stand-up comedy featuring Eric O’Shea and Rik Roberts, on November 10. And fast on the heels of that is the annual Just for Laughs Comedy Tour, this year starring an international line-up helmed by Saturday Night Live alum Finesse Mitchell with Scottish superstar Danny Bhoy, Canadian Pete Zedlacher, Ireland’s David O’Doherty and British funnyman Hal Cruttenden, November 15 at the Royal.

Finally, if you want to get in the gift-giving mood a bit early, don’t miss out when Stuart McLean brings Dave, Morely and some kind of inevitable turkey mayhem to town with A Vinyl Cafe Christmas from December 1-2 at the Royal.
